UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was fatally shot outside the Hilton hotel in New York: sources

The CEO of UnitedHealth was fatally shot in the chest outside the Hilton hotel in Midtown on Wednesday morning in what police said was a targeted attack.

Brian Thompson, 50, was at the hotel around 6:46 a.m., arriving early for a conference, when a masked man who was reportedly waiting for him repeatedly shot the CEO and fled eastbound from 6th Avenue, police sources told The Post.

Thompson was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

Officials said no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

The suspect was described as a white male wearing a cream-colored jacket, a black face mask and black and white sneakers. Officials said he was carrying a gray backpack.

Witnesses told The Post that the suspect was walking near the hotel, on 6th Avenue.

Sources say the shooter was not a guest at the hotel, but it is unclear if he had other business there.
