Liam Payne’s fall was captured on CCTV, Argentine media say

The fatal fall of former One Direction singer Liam Payne from a balcony in Buenos Aires was captured on camera, according to Argentine media.

The footage, which has not been made public, shows the singer falling after “fainting” on the third-floor balcony.

Paula Varela, an Argentinian journalist, revealed on Socios del Espectaculo, a show broadcast on Buenos Aires-based TV station Canal 13, that the footage shows Liam losing consciousness before falling from the balcony.

“There is footage that is not released to the media with the balcony scene where you see Liam faints and tragically because of where he is, falls off that balcony. If he had been next to his bed, he would have fallen on his bed,” Varela said.

‘It’s not like he jumped on purpose. These images are in the official files.”

Research into potential drug supplier

Varela also reported that a night worker at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel, who had “a good relationship” with Payne, was the focus of an ongoing investigation into who supplied the singer with the drugs suspected of contributing to his death on October 16 .

‘A boy is being investigated. He worked nights at the hotel. He is twenty and had an excellent relationship with Liam. He is from Lomas de Zamora, on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, but we are not going to mention his name,” Varela said.

“He ignored an order from the hotel management. What order did he disobey? I didn’t mean to take anything to Liam’s room. Because of the good relationship he had with Liam, he requested a car through one of these taxi apps that we all use because Liam wanted something. He did him that favor, a huge mistake because he’s under investigation and they see what was transferred into that vehicle. It’s one of the things that investigators are looking at right now, and obviously this hotel employee has been suspended. He is a well-liked staff member, a good worker, but he ignored an order that could have been fatal.”

Toxicology report and police findings

A toxicology report completed as part of the autopsy revealed traces of pink cocaine – a combination of methamphetamine, ketamine and MDMA – in his system, as well as cocaine and benzodiazepine.

Police also found a makeshift aluminum pipe used to smoke crack cocaine in his suite.

The English pop star, 31, died immediately and suffered multiple injuries when he fell from the balcony almost 45 feet to the concrete footpath below, according to a post-mortem.

Prosecutors believe Payne was in a state of “semi- or total unconsciousness” during a substance-induced “psychotic episode” when he fell.

Alberto Crescenti, head of the state’s emergency medical system, confirmed Payne had fallen in a courtyard.

“A few minutes later, an emergency team arrived and confirmed the death of this man, who we later learned was from a music group. He had injuries incompatible with life as a result of his fall,” he said.
