F1 Brazilian GP qualifying delayed by heavy storm

Qualifying for the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Brazil has been postponed after a deluge of rain started to fall half an hour before the session was due to start at 3pm local time.

The sprint race was held in dry conditions on Saturday morning, with McLaren’s Lando Norris winning ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri.

But it started to rain at Interlagos between sessions, with the FIA allowing teams to close their garages due to the downpour.

With radars suggesting rain would continue and lightning being spotted over the track, it was decided to postpone the start of qualifying indefinitely.

The next update would be announced at 3:30 PM local time, 30 minutes after qualifying was originally scheduled.
