Trump is doing well in rural areas, even if he has no view of Pennsylvania, Fetterman warns

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – His name isn’t on the ballot, but Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman has been campaigning hard across the commonwealth for his party’s slate of candidates.

Fetterman has made a name for himself by going to every county in Pennsylvania, so he’s somewhat of an expert on the state’s 67 different counties. The Democrat says we shouldn’t underestimate Donald Trump’s support in many rural counties, and keep an eye out for Trump signs on barns, farms and yards.

“You all know how popular he is with a lot of people, even as you watch this right now,” Fetterman said. “And all the time I spend traveling around Pennsylvania, it’s visually shocking and surprising in the level of dedication.”

Despite that support, Fetterman believes it is not a lock for Trump.

“Will Vice President Harris carry Pennsylvania next Tuesday?” asked KDKA-TV’s Jon Delano.

“She will,” Fetterman said. “She will wear it, but it will be very, very close.”

Fetterman thinks Harris supporters in Pittsburgh’s city, suburbs and neighboring counties can make a difference.

“It’s going to be an abs-check type of mood,” Fetterman said. “And for those people who haven’t decided yet, they’re going to walk in and it’s going to be like, what do I want for America in the next four years?”

Fetterman says Harris and running mate Tim Walz have taken his advice to campaign in areas outside of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.

“If you don’t show up and there’s only one party that does, then it’s so reasonable that some people turn their backs and say, ‘If you don’t even show up, why am I even voting for that?’” Fetterman said.

Of course, Trump has also campaigned in every region of the state. In a statement, a Trump spokesperson said the former president would win this state, noting, “Every time Pennsylvanians fill up their tanks with gas, go grocery shopping or see the headlines about Kamala’s dumpster fire of a border crisis, it’s another nudge to strengthen the situation. Pennsylvania as Trumpland on November 5.”
