THE WOLVES GO TO 2024-2025

The Western Oregon men’s basketball team opens its 2024-2025 campaign as the Wolves begin play at the CCA Division-II Canadian Tip-Off Classic, hosted by fellow GNAC school Simon Fraser. WOU will play three matches during the three-day event.

The Wolves finished 5-21 overall and 2-16 in GNAC play last year, finishing 10e at conference. WOU is led by returning senior Jason Gallantwho was named to the Preseason All-GNAC team. Gallant led the Wolves and finished sixth in the GNAC last year with 15.5 points per game. He also ranked second in the GNAC in assists per game (4.4) and minutes per game (36.3) during his freshman year at WOU.

That also means returning for the Wolves Carson Frinke (10.2ppm), Zach MooreMakaio Murphy and Trey Wilmot as the Wolves have six transfers and two freshmen.

The Wolves will also be led from leadership and coaching in the returning assistant coach Alex Saindon. Saindon was a volunteer assistant coach for WOU during the 2022-2023 season and now returns full-time alongside the sixth-year (fifth season) head coach Wes Pifer.

Gallant named to the Preseason All-GNAC team
Western Oregon Senior Jason Gallant was named to the GNAC Men’s Basketball Preseason All-Conference Team when the conference released the team on October 22.

Gallant, a senior guard from Simi Valley, California, led the Wolves and ranked sixth in the conference in scoring at 15.5 points per game last year, while ranking second in the GNAC in assists (4.4) and minutes per game. game (36.3) in his first season at WOU. He scored a season-high 31 points against Alaska Fairbanks on February 22, 2023.

Wolves finished ninth in the GNAC Preseason Coaches Poll
The Western Oregon men’s basketball team was picked to finish ninth — with 21 votes — when the conference announced its coaches poll on Oct. 17. The Wolves finished in 10th place.e in the GNAC last year with a conference record of 2-16 and an overall record of 5-21.
