Spectators continue to spit and make sexual comments towards the NLISD Pantherettes during the game against Pleasant Grove

During a volleyball match against the Pleasant Grove Lady Hawks on Tuesday evening, spectators from the opposing team did not spit on the North Lamar Pantherette but made sexual comments about their bodies and hand gestures while ‘shooting’ people in the stands.

And it was all caught on camera (see video below) as the game was streamed live YouTube by Texarkana / Longview Gameday.

Posting the footage on social media, NLISD board member Lauren Woodard said, “Is this really how you treat your guest athletes at your gym, Pleasant Grove? Your resource officers didn’t mind. Your athletic director didn’t answer during the game or this morning when I called. Even hours later I still haven’t received a call back.”

Woodard added that several players said sexual comments were also made about their bodies.

The video quickly went viral with many sharing their disgust at what they saw.

“I think this video says everything it needs to. Pleasant Grove High, I am disgusted with your students and staff,” said Natalie Washington. “Your athletic director, coaches and resource officer stood there and did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about this behavior. Our players were bullied and made fun of throughout the match. Our anatomy was talked about in sexual and embarrassing ways. Your fans imitated gun use, SPIT on our players, which is assault by the way, and talked about my body, which is also sexual harassment by the way. I’m amazed that high school volleyball has come this far and been made to this extent. I am disgusted with this ENTIRE school and I encourage everyone on my Facebook to email and show the disappointment to that entire district. Another parent said they asked the referee six times if they (the fans) could do that and “he didn’t do anything.”

Ashley Conklin said: “This was the worst thing I have ever seen!!!! I was on the other side of the gym and could hear the students yelling, “You’re all trash” and other things. Leaning over the rails to say things to the girls. While the security and other adults standing there literally did nothing and acted like it was normal. I couldn’t wait to get out of that gym. Unacceptable.”
