A concert-sized stage in Milwaukee’s Veterans Park is being deconstructed

The concert-sized stage built Thursday on the south side of Milwaukee’s Veterans Park appeared to be deconstructed Friday before it was ever used.

A woman who spoke to a Journal Sentinel reporter at the scene Friday afternoon declined to explain what was happening. She called the area an active construction site.

Multiple semis, loaded with what appeared to be large pieces of metal, could be seen being driven from the site.

According to an earlier Journal Sentinel report, the setup began early Thursday.

An electrical permit filed with the city for Veterans Park lists “Kamala Harris rally” as the description of the event. Meanwhile, a noise variance permit for McKinley Marina north of Veterans Park refers to “Harris for President” as the “responsible party” and a concert as the purpose of the event. The noise deviation permit specifies a date range of Wednesday through Monday.

It has since been announced that Harris’ Friday rally would be held at the Wisconsin State Fair Exposition Center. Performances are scheduled from GloRilla, Flo Milli, MC Lyte, The Isley Brothers and DJ GEMINI GILLY and guest speaker Cardi B.

Former President Donald Trump will hold a competing rally just six miles away Friday evening at the Fiserv Forum as both candidates make a final push into battleground states ahead of Tuesday’s election.

Alison Dirr of the Journal Sentinel staff contributed to this report.
