Dodgers fan blows up hand with fireworks while celebrating World Series

The Los Angeles Dodgers walked away with their eighth title on Wednesday, but one of the team’s most enthusiastic fans walked away with fewer fingers crossed.

In a gruesome video captured on video and circulating on social media, an unidentified Dodgers fan wearing a Clayton Kershaw jersey went to set off a firework when it suddenly went off in his hand.

The resulting explosion caused a fireball to rise around him, and the man staggered away in shock. One of his hands was covered in blood and appeared several digits shorter than before the accident.

Fortunately, some bystanders saw the incident and came to his assistant and called 911. TMZ reports that the 25-year-old in the clip was conscious when the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived on the scene, but suffered bilateral hand wounds.

Although the injuries were described as debilitating, they were not life-threatening. He was given tourniquets on both arms and taken to a nearby hospital.

He may not have been happy with what happened to his hand, but at least his team came out on top.

The Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees in a comeback victory on Wednesday. After the win, outfielder Mookie Betts said the only way to define the 2024 Dodgers was “crazy.”

“One thing is we just kept going,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told ESPN. “Even in the postseason, I don’t think anyone picked us. I don’t think they picked us to get out of the first bracket. For us to go out there and fight and scratch and claw and win eleven games in October, that’s an honor for our boys.”
